The students of Faith Christian School, led by Ms. Kerr and featuring cameos by some teachers, presented the musical, Dr. Newheart’s Christmas Cure, on Dec. 4 at New Life Assembly Church in Kearney. See more pictures of this performance at FCS’ Flickr account.

A special thanks goes out to Pastor Geri Anderson for assisting with the choreography, Pastor Eric Rozean for help with the staging, props, and set construction, and to Shawn King, Hannah Lundell, and Paige Hervert for their help with the sound, light and video.
A big thank you also goes to all our FCS parents who helped with costumes, props, and refreshments during the fellowship time that followed.
From the FCS family to yours: Merry Christmas and God’s blessings to you in 2010!
NOTE NEW TIME: The 2009 Fall Celebration is being held on Monday, November 23, from 6-9 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in Kearney. There will be a selection of finger foods, desserts and a silent auction with social hour to start the evening. Sam Barfell from ACSI will be our speaker and there will be a DVD of the students shown to those in attendance.
Please prayerfully consider inviting others you know with a heart for Christian education! Contact the school with your invitation list, or for additional information.
The Department of Health and Human Services issued new guidelines on August 7, 2009. These guidelines contain important information impacting the 2009-2010 school year.
H1N1 has been shown to affect school-aged children disproportionately, and children are known to be highly likely to transmit flu viruses, especially in school and other group settings.
H1N1 may persist into fall, potentially as a more severe strain, causing more serious and life threatening illness.
We are to use “strict enforcement of exclusion policies for students and staff with flu-like symptoms.” Flu like symptoms are defined by the CDC as “persons with a temperature of 100 degrees or higher plus a cough or a sore throat in the absence of a known diagnosis.” With the H1N1 influenza, symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea have also been fairly common.
If a student or teacher awakens on a school morning with these symptoms, do not come to school. Stay home until you have been symptom free (fever less than 100 degrees for 24 hours without fever-reducing medicine), or you have been diagnosed by a physician and have a release to safely return to school/work. Teachers will also be instructed to watch for symptoms in their students that may not be feeling well. If they present symptoms consistent with those listed above, parents will be asked to pick up their child and follow the protocol listed above.
Please exercise good hand washing and cough-and-sneeze etiquette!
The excitement is building and so is our new school at 56th Street and 17th Avenue in northwest Kearney. We’ll keep posting photos of the new school construction periodically to the FCS Flickr account.
